How to chant

The Kakārādi Kālī Sahasranāma is traditionally recited at night, seated facing south (the direction of Dakṣiṇa Kālī), after bath and prāṇāyāma, with a red or ghee lamp lit before the Mother. Begin with the ṛṣyādi-nyāsa and dhyāna given in the Mahākāla Saṃhitā, then chant the thousand names beginning with Oṃ krīṃ Kālyai namaḥ. Every name starts with the syllable ka — the seed of Kālī herself. English meanings are aids to bhāva; the fruit lies in surrender to the Mother.
